i am really focused lately on becoming healthier. i've just started riding my bike again, and slowly working an exercise routine into my daily schedule. i really want / need to boost my immune system. ever since i was a little girl, i always got sick. i've pretty much had no immune system, which may be caused by some sort of deficiency.
yesterday i went to a new doctor who seems like he'll be my best doctor yet. earlier this year, i was having issues with breathing, asthma, allergies, and just being sick in general, in and out of hospitals for tests and such.
no results were ever found, so this new doctor had an idea. he put me on a 30-day elimination diet starting yesterday. gluten free, lactose free, caffeine free, citrus free. he thinks that eliminating all of these it may help my symptoms. after the 30 days, he'll gradually start adding items back into my diet, and see how i react.
WOW. all at once. so needless to say, my diet and lifestyle are going to be changing significantly for the next month.
tonight i've found some really awesome blogs with gluten free, dairy free recipes! i wanted to share one with you, in case you know of anybody who is in a similar situation to me, or just somebody wanting to have a healthier lifestyle!
that one is by far my favorite. the woman's name is Karina, and her recipes look amazing! i'm excited to try out some!
my grandma and mom have been lactose intolerant their entire lives. i was from birth to age 7, and my sister has been on and off for the past 8 or so years. so it's pretty likely that's what i need to avoid, but we'll see after these 30 days are up!
but it's nice that my mom already has all the dairy free items around the house, and that i'm used to buying them and cooking with them. it's going to be a tough weekend because i'm visiting michael up at his place, and we're going to the lake house.
so it'll be a challenge getting used to this new way of eating, but it's a challenge i'm willing to accept with a smile. could be worse! :)
